Last one for 2024

I thought I was done buying guns for 2024…then Ruger dropped their RXM, a vendor had like-new cop trade-in G17’s for $300 ea, and then I decided to promise myself only One. More. Gun. for 2024. It’ll be here late next week.

Self-discipline is so very not my strong point.

  1. Following. I failed the self discipline goals regarding gun buying oftentimes myself. It is not an insurmountable thing to over come, as at least you will have an inventory to show for it. Rather than just being broke and jonesing for a fix of some other addiction out there. Take a hobby break from that aquisition sport for a while and just focus on another objective with that same zest and zeal. Maybe focus back on real estate and relocating to a non shithole locale and location that is not a tactical endangerment to you will provide a catharsis for not having a new gun to fondle every week or so. Stay flexible on things helps staying frosty out there.

    • Merciful Crom, no….I’m way out of room for storing guns to begin with. Sometimes I’m amazed the floor supports all the weight.

      • As long as the Fire Marshall doesn’t know about the excessive powder, primers and ammo not appropriately stored in a magazine it’s all good. Need to justify a “storm shelter” for storage?

  2. You can never have to many guns. To many is never enough. So if you can afford them. Buy away. The nice things about firearms is they are a great investment.
Everything I have bought over the years has in many cases increased in value. In some cases they are worth 5 times more then what I paid for them.

    • Yeah, I think of some of the stuff I used to own that has gone up in value and I almost wanna cry…most notably my HK93 back in the 80’s.

        • I used to console myself by telling myself that the gun will always be there, it’ll just cost more later. And thats quite true….I can get back that HK93 if I really want to…it’ll just cost me more than I originally paid…but it IS available. That sort of thinking takes the sting out of it sometimes.

  3. Yeah you bought a lot of guns this year. Might be good to put energies elsewhere next year.

I bought 2 guns this year. The HK45c cuz well ban state and an old Winchester 30-30 that was an impulse purchase.

Next year I’ll shoot for 2 guns again.

    • Hmmm…spreadsheet says I purchased 249 guns for 2024. However, of those, about 160 were stripped lowers for resale. Not counting those. Buncha other guns in there for resale. Also, for this purpose, I count supressors as guns. So, in terms of actual guns purchased expressly for myself…mmm… 25. Only three Ruger P95DC’s this year. Of the 25 guns, 14 were Rugers. Oh, and there’s the Steyr HS50M1 that will be here Friday, so 26 actually.

  4. I only obtained two guns this year. We live in the communist state of Washington, they are making it more difficult to purchase. They are currently targeting ammo purchases currently with limits and additional taxes, requiring licenses to purchase, so I’m focusing on ammo purchases currently before final legislation approvals. They already got their way with restrictions on semi automatic weapons and associated parts, including mag limits. I stocked up before legislation approvals and grandfathered. Now you know why many are leaving Washington state.
