The closing of the year

Ah 2024….we hardly knew ye.

Well, 2024 in revue..lets hit it.

World didn’t come to an end. Didn’t have to use my AK. Or Glock. Thats a victory.

Election went better than I had hoped, but its just re-arranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point. Still have a job and even snagged a little raise. The people I care about are doing well. Still have a house. Did well in the market this year, especially in November, so I’m positioned to buy property far better than I was positioned at the beginning of the year…just gotta keep my eyes open.

About the only thing I can really complain about is that I didn’t find the property I want yet. Other than that, I really have nothing to complain about.

Forecast for ’25: Ukraine winds up having to come to the table as war fatigue sets in. Inflation is above 2% but nothing like what it was under Biden. Bidenistas become the Japanese hold outs of the political world, staying behind in government to crap in Trumps punch bowl every chance they get. At least one more assassination attempt is made/thwarted. Gas prices drop to lowest prices in four years. Markets are shaky, but ultimately trend upward. Wall does not get built. China continues to be the biggest threat to…everything. Alec Baldwin does not move to France. Cubs don’t win Series.

I want to think 2025 will be a better time under a better administration, but with the level of political balkanization out there…well, even the most well-intentioned executive will have trouble getting meaningful things done. Years that are divisible by five have always been rough ones for me so I’m going into this new year with my eyes open.

But, 2024 leaves, 2025 arrives, and I’m still here. Calling that a win. Good luck.

  1. CZ, Happy New and all the best for 2025. My wishes are similar to yours, just a little further North! A change of Gov’t for us could bring about a return to sane gun laws not the extremist, far left scared of their own shadow laws the Liberals have enacted. Who knows it might even stop the Cdn Dollar from becoming the northern peso! Forgive my whining, I was feeling sorry for myself for a moment. TTFN

  2. Hearing from people in the know, those that operate in and around the swamp at medium and high levels, keep the gas tank full, have cash on hand, change your passwords.

    • If I had a dollar for everytime in the past 25 years I’ve heard, “…from people in the know..”
I could’ve bought half of Texas

          • Except the guy is my brother in law, he is a Chief Master Sargeant and head of military IT, the other is my nephew who is in a three-letter organization stationed in the middle east with missiles going over his head. But hey, they could be wrong, just giving their opinion and trying to help, won’t happen again, sorry for bothering everyone.

          • I heard from a guy in the know that now Trump will be back in office, the Dallas Cowboys have a shot at winning the Super Bowl next year!!! Then again, probably a better chance of economic collapse or zombi apocalypse before that happens. lol

          • Remember when Shawn Ryan, Lora Logan, Claire Wolfe and everybody else connected to .mil said the electricity is going to be pulled during the elections?

  3. A very Happy New Year to you and yours! Yes, not sorry to see ’24 go, but ’25 is full of uncertainty, as are all years, despite what we try to believe. Best of luck with what ever lies ahead (to all of us), and thanks again for all your output. Cheers!

  4. Happy New Year! Thanks CZ for the tips over the years, I did pick up an AIM Surplus Glock 17 like you did, the gun was like new! Great deal! Good Luck Phil! I hope things turn around up North, I hate to see our neighbors suffers especially the 2A way. Looking forward to a much better 2025. Be glad to see the ole buzzard leave, and hopefully Trump can bring about some much needed change…

  5. Happy 2025!!!

Heck, keeping cash on hand, gas tanks full, and my head on a swivel is an everyday thing. For me it goes back to the Boy Scout motto of “Be Prepared,” or the standing orders of Rogers Rangers.

  6. I think your 25 assumptions are probably pretty good. Ukraine may well be headed to a frozen conflict kind of thing. If you study Russian New Generation Warfare that’s kinda the goal.

US politics will probably be weird. It may work out good economically, we shall see.

Regardless aiming to leave 25 healthier, wealthier and wiser than we enter it are certainly good goals.
