Since I have plenty of Magpul G9 mags here, I wasn’t concerned about the guns coming with only one mag apiece. A $300 G17 will always grab my attention. But cop guns are notorious for being beaten up aesthetically while being mechanically good. Ordered three and they showed up yesterday:
Absolutely excellent condition. Night sights still have plenty of glow. Barrels need a cleaning at the chamber end as there’s a lot of fouling on the feed ramps, but thats five minutes with Hoppes and a q-tip. I ordered three, which came out to $17.51 to ship for each gun. That puts my basis as $317.51 for each very clean G17. Strong recommend.
They still have them in stock as of today, so if you’ve got a buddy with an FFL, or you’ve a LGS who does reasonable transfer fees, I’d say jump on this deal.
Someone will ask why Gen3 when there are trade-in Gen4 and Gen5 out there. The Gen 4 made some changes to the ejector/extractor, I believe, that caused some problems. Gen5 is alright I suppose but interchangeable backstraps aren’t a thing in my world. The Gen3, IMO, is the best version of the Glock. In fact, Glock still makes the Gen3 for various agency commitments.
I see this as an opportunity to grab yourself an ideal pistol at a bargain price. Passing the info along to you guys, do with it what you will.
The Gen 3s are also legal in California were the 4 and 5 are not. Funny thing is Blue Lable guns come with 3 magazines, but they always do this and peel off the two extra magazines and sell them separately.
Cop guns are carried a lot and shot little, as a rule. Glock encourages a 5 year trade in cycle, which means 2500 rounds at most through most of them and 5k or more for a few.
Not to mention the aftermarket support for Gen3 Glocks following the advent of Polymer80 and their competitors.
We really are in something of a golden age of firearms. (I first heard this from Tony Simon on the guns and gear review podcast on FRN.)
I need another Glock 9 like I need another hole in my head but that’s definitely a good deal.
Have to look them over. May need to change out the trigger assembly. Mine had a New York Trigger set up that was near impossible to pull. Switched it out with a complete trigger kit from Pyramid and then i was hitting 3″ circles on the target.
Following. Good find Commander. As a retailer back in the day I would periodically find these offerings from distributor chains, (ellett bros. Rsr, etc) they were in limited batch quantities, and as great deals overall they sold fast. They are factory refurbished so they have been gone through, inspected and fit for resale. Swap a few parts as a buyer for your own tastes and you have a near new gun at bargain rates. Yes gen 3 series are the best generation, simple as. As things flesh out politically on the national scene it would be shrewed for anons to continue on with their own “AQUISITIONS” competitions out there and continue to build and stack, because of many reasons. Stay frosty
My first shotgun was a ‘police trade in’ pump S&W for $69, wish I still had it, shot the heck out of it and it never jammed once. As I peruse the interweb sites for new and used firearms, I’m always mildly astonished about the ‘needs cleaning’ part. When I had an FFL the first thing I would do with a used gun, as a minimum, was a shot of WD 40 and a bore snake pull or two. Never understood how someone could sell a precision-made instrument and not have a minute to give it a rudimentary scrub.
Ugh..I had a S&W 916 once, made the mistake of taking it apart, and had a hell of a time re-assembling it. Swore them off after that.
I think mine was a model 3000, I’m not smart enough to work on complicated devices but my stepdad at the time, who repaired artillery in the Army, could take apart and repair most anything. I would clean the parts then he would re-assemble. Worked out rather well.
Thank you for the Heads Up. I jumped on two though I don’t need more. Just an old softy for rescue weapons, that’s me. They will not languish in my safe- too many shooters in my family that will offer them active, loving homes.
Just ordered one , like you went for gen3 I think that model will have less problems than gen 4 and plenty of aftermarket accessories for gen3.
