Or, as others call it, ‘Thanksgiving’.
Personally, I don’t restrict my gratitude to one day of the year. I’m always aware of what I do and don’t have and who is or is not responsible for that.
This year, I’m thankful the election didn’t go to Harris. I’m also thankful that the fourth quarter of the year was pretty good to me market-wise. And, of course, I am thankful to me for all the cool and good stuff I’ve done for me this year. Thanks me!
The problem, if you want to call it that, with being aware of what you do and do not have is that it makes you very sensitive to things that threaten that status quo. I can sit in front of a giant plate of turkey, potatoes, stuffing, pie, and ice cream, and while I’ll enjoy the heck out of it I’ll also be very aware that just because I have it now doesn’t guarantee I’ll have it next year. But..I’d bet folding money that the odds of me having an abundant holiday next year are a darn sight better than a lot of folks. Again…thanks me!
And lets hope next years Thanksgiving doesn’t go like this:
Your statements above apply to me as well.
Thank you for what you do to motivate all of us.
I think we all have more to be grateful for than we realize sometimes. I have a friend from high school is fighting terminal brain cancer. His plight really makes me aware of all I truly have to give thanks for.
I’ve read that wealth is measured by what you can live without, rather than what you have accumulated. Instead of buying more stuff we don’t need, consider giving a person in need a warm coat or meal.
Wealth is subjective. To me, it is measured not by what you’ve accumulated, or what you can live without, but rather by what you can do that you could not do before…. eat the name-brand ice cream, give people gifts, try a new restaurant for lunch every day, help pay for someones college, have some nice clothes, pay off your parents house, etc, etc.
Money is like the super soldier serum from Captain America. “The serum amplifies everything that is inside, so good becomes great. Bad becomes worse.” Whatever you were before you had money, you’ll be an amplified version of that after you have it.
Physical gold and silver is the only money in the world.
“Whatever you were before you had money, you’ll be an amplified version of that after you have it.” So true CZ. Once I started trading my federal reserve debt notes for money, my living standard improved greatly.
I’m thankful that I’m a Southerner & don’t have to eat stuffing. I do pile up the dressing, though!
I wonder how those folks will eat the canned Turkey wearing a gas mask?
