The Montana boys

You know, every so often I make a post and people leave comments that mention they are in Montana as well.

So, I’m a bit curious. How many of you folks are actually living in this fine state? You can be as vague as you want, but I am curious to know how many of you reside here in Montana.

I am willing to bet money that some of you have mutual friends with me, and I would not be surprised if I’ve met one or two of you and not known it.

  1. I don’t live in MT, but have some military friends that do. Both are in the Great Falls area. I almost moved there, even found a place I could afford. My friends up there said the water was polluted from the mining. Guess I will stay in OK.

    • Butte High or Central? I was back there early November; had some Pork Chop John’s and picked up some Wynne’s Pasties. Can’t beat them!

  2. Upstate S.C.
As a previous commenter stated, “Wouldn’t survive your winters.”
Safer in S.C. to some degree…
Got pounded by that storm, 4 huge 80′ tall trees almost gave me
a total loss on my cabinet shop. Finishing up the re-build next week.
The adjuster was amazed that it was still standing…claimed it was
“over built”…I said, “No, it’s built properly.”
The reason it survived the impact is due to 16″ on center yellow pine
2×6 and real 1/2″ 4 ply roof sheeting as opposed to current standards
of 24″ on center and osb roof sheeting.

  3. Live in the Ozarks of Missouri.
Thought about and visited your fine city, nice walkway along the river by the way.
Winter is to fierce for me up there.
    Happy in the Ozarks.

  4. Not a Montana guy but have an anecdote.

I used to have a blog in this general ecosystem. I went to a ‘John Mosby’ handgun class. A guy was talking about another dude with a blog he liked. That dude was me.

  5. Corvallis, Montana, sometimes we do the same gun shows on the same day. One time several years ago you bought a holster at the Hamilton Show that I had my eye on, the one you showed on the blog. I still remember one of your first blogs where the New Jersey Staci showed up at your brothers house looking for your unregistered “assault” rifle that you had moved to America (Montana).

    • Ha! That was you? That’s pretty cool. I’m gonna SBR that thing. Why’d you get rid of it? And have no fear….it went to a good home!

      • If you SBR it, you’ll really appreciate the vertical Kgrip it has.
Back in the day there weren’t a lot of reliable PCC to choose from, so I bought it for 2 & 3 gun matches when working in Nevada (hence the tan Duracoat). I’ve since gone in the Sig MPX direction (manual of arms being similar to AR) and the Uzi was rarely taken out of the safe, so thought it was time for some other deserving soul like yourself to enjoy it.

        • I got my original Uzi for the same reason – I wanted a PCC but there was nothing ont he market with the track record of durability and reliability like the Uzi. Its a different story now, of course…but back then, there wasnt much to choose from for a 9mm carbine that was ‘tactical’. (No matter how much Tapco you throw on a Marlin Camp Carbine.)

  6. Within 1.5 miles of the 60’ windmill at bell crossing .

Why do I reference that landmark ? Because I put it there .

Been here 5 years and planning to stay .

  7. SW ID. Have friends who live in Whitefish and Kalispell. Summers are amazing in MT. Haven’t tried your winters though.

  8. Montana here. Lolo actually. I think I saw you in Sportsman’s Warehouse about ten(ish) years ago. But have never actually met you.

  9. SW Florida. Next stop the Everglades. I’m on an island and the last 5 years of hurricane weather has me questioning!!
    Have been here 20 years.
