Flour power

I was up at Winco last night and, as is my habit, I took a pass through the food storage section they have in the back corner of the building. And…….

Whats missing? Wheat and flour. Also a large amount of rice was missing. So…more signs of the times.

I checked the Preponomicon just to make sure that I’m in the green on most things, but because I’m easily influenced by media I went ahead and went a little past 100% on a few things. I mean, it isn’t going to get cheaper anytime soon..and availability isn’t as certain as it used to be…so why not pick up extra detergent, meat, canned goods, etc.

It’s interesting to stand in line at the checkout and look at other people’s carts. You can kinda read their life’s story by whats in the cart. It was a fun game to figure out who was simply buying their normal quantity of groceries and who was stocking up ‘just in case’. Having been doing this sort of thing for many years, I can get away with just picking up a few ‘onesies’ or ‘twosies’ of something here and there and still be wildly well-supplied.

You know you’re heading for a bumpy ride when the White House has completely given up on denying things and is now saying “Yeah, we have inflation…and you should expect it to get worse.” And, all those price increases? Thats “Putin’s price increases”, “Putin’s oil hikes”, and “Putins market volatility.” Uhm..yeah…because no one apparently has a calendar. This nonsense has been going on since before Putin sent the tanks. But…now there’s a convenient bad guy to hang all the economic pain on.

:::shrug:::

At this point I really have trouble working up care for anyone who isn’t part of the tribe. It’s a savage and uncaring world out there and I am amazed at the outrage exhibited by people who are just now discovering that in wars people shoot civilians, bomb hospitals, control media, starve people, etc, etc. Thats actually business as usual on a large part of this planet. Heck, anyone who has even the slightest interest in history can easily point out that humans have been unbelievably cruel and hateful to other humans for the entire existence of the race. Oh, sure, be outraged…just don’t be surprised.

In the meantime, as far as Im concerned, worrying less about abroad and worrying more about your own house is the order of the day.

    This. A thousand times this.

  2. Right. One however must monitor news feeds or be an intelligence gathering observer of state, national, and international events so as to be proactive regarding events and trends. Wheat exports is sound bite mentioned, and flour dissapears from store inventories, or higher priced shelf tags get switched out hastily on the same inventory sitting there. The covid drama created more pack rat prepper come lately types of consumers now competing for inventories. Smart phones and internet shrunk the time gap in news events and on the ground local effects. I may procure a few grain mills and follow that Bison Prepper mantra of stocking wheat by the drum and industrial tote size quantities. It may really be more than just seven lean years after all. Stay frosty.

  3. Ukraine was a large grain producer for Europe as well as gas and oil and other products like coal, steel, chemicals, etc. Apparently they were the #1 supplier of sunflower seeds and oil.

The nuke plants supplying power are down now. Just another domino that illustrates everything is tied together, the butterfly is starting a hurricane.

Watching people line up at ATM’s, gas stations and grocery stores AFTER the war started, even though there was weeks or even months of warning, is even more evidence the sheep don’t have a clue.

The US doesn’t want Poland to send warplanes lest they ‘escalate’ the situation. That’s like having an AR and a Glock but not using them on the home invaders because of fear of escalation.

CZ is right, don’t worry about things you can’t control. Buying cheap is no longer an option but we can still stack deep.

    • except the u.s. did want poland to send their migs. poland said no at first, then offered to fly them to ramstein so the u.s. could hand them over. that’s when the usgov balked.

      • Now I’m confused. I thought the whole purpose of NATO was for the member countries would buddy up and protect each other.

        • NATO is sounding alot like those militia groups of the 90s where everyone swears to protect each other and go down fighting…as long as the situation never arises that calls for such things.

        • Ukraine is NOT a NATO member! That’s one of the thing Putin is worried about. He doesn’t want a NATO member on his border.

  4. No worries, ol’ slo will show that meanie a thin or two !
Watch that FRN buy less and less and less……..

  5. russia isn’t doing anything we haven’t done countless times, the latest of which was droning an innocent man and his kids knowingly and on purpose to cover their asses. their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

  6. just a thought…what if russia, or somebody, nuked us and one of them went off course a little and landed in the yellowstone caldera?

    • Id imagine it would release pressure that was building thereby preventing the great explosion everyone predicts will happen otherwise.

      • And if nuclear winter fixed global warming, we’d be set! Especially if they nuke DC, NYC, San Fran, etc.
        The future is bright.

          • The people I know in those cities do not consider themselves American. Also, joking about it doesn’t mean I actually want it.

          • They are not just americans and they do not just want americans dead. Population reduction of 90% is their goal. Once you accept they want you dead the rest makes sense.

  7. MiG-29s are 40 year old aircraft. The Poles score global ‘goodwill points’ by donating them, and because they’re wore-out pieces of garbage, it’s one less liability on their balance sheet.

Plus, Romney is a bigger douchebag-moron than I ever imagined.

    • Most of the fighters in the US are equally old, except F-22 and F-35, and we don’t have many. Just because they are old doesn’t mean they are bad.

        • Can you elaborate? My impression is that the mig29 is a competent air superiority fighter, although a bit short ranged. It’s been updated along the way just like every other similar aircraft.

  8. You are so correct. The sheeples minds have been taken over. Your wisdom is showing.

  9. Only half of that was left on the shelf yesterday. Some pasta, beans, salt and a bag of sugar.
