Article – California law bans small off-road gas engines, including lawnmowers and chainsaws

Ah, California….every time I think you’ve woke yourself into a new depth of stupidity, you one-down me.

The new law will ban the sale of all off-road, gas-powered engines, including generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers, and even golf carts.

California, a state with a history of disaster due to being situated on the terrestrial equivalent of Jell-O, has decided that any new generator you buy can’t run on a gas engine. So, when ‘the big one’ finally hits you’re supposed to haul out your Newsom-approved generator that runs on unicorn flatus and .gov overreach.

As the article says, it bans the sale of new gas powered non-vehicles. Two things to note…’sale’ and ‘new’. So, expect Nevada to add generators to the big box of Pmags they keep by the door at the border gas stations. And, I’d expect that propane-powered generators will find a new market as well.

There’s gonna be a lot of Honda EU2000’s getting UPS’d into California from ‘private parties’ over the next few years, I’d imagine. Can’t wait to read about how the ‘reasonable’ and ‘common sense’ legislation to ban these terrible weapons of war climate change won’t aooly to ‘only ones’ like municipalities and their various agencies.

If I had the money, I’d buy a chunk of dirt right on the border with California and run a general store full of Pmags, generators, gender-specific toys, fireworks, and everything else California bans, and I’d probably make enough to retire in three years.

I wanna go hug my EU2000 right now.

  1. they also took the snooty high ground and said their state wasn’t going to purchase electricity made with coal. Navajo generating station closed down and took 3200MW off the energy market. California had rolling blackouts due to not enough generation. Brilliant. Now they are building natural gas burning generating stations.

    • This is after they DISMANTLED several NG power plants. I know this for fact. They took apart two of them near where I live. One of them had only been on line for about five years…

I still can’t find ANYONE who voted for Newsom. Neither can I find ANYONE who voted AGAINST his recall! …The game is rigged…

    • I used to be stationed in the general area of the NGS. I won’t say I miss its demise. It polluted northern Arizona and New Mexico for the benefit of liberal Californians. Their “clean” electric cars and other green fantasies meant that they merely shifted their pollution to largely poor backcountry brown folks.

Californians deserve to be sitting cold, useless and in the dark. It’s the bed they made and they can wallow in it.

  2. Just a heads up. I had a Cali resident tell me the following story on Nevada sales of ammunition. Border area NV retailers has unmarked Cali LEO’s parked in their cars, when not needed on their side, taking down license plate numbers of CA cars. The Chippies were notified and would pull these folks over. I have no reason to think he was lying, as he wasn’t one to BS.

    • Yeah; they had that base covered, making it illegal to buy ammo outside the state and then drive it in. They’ll probably do the same with the gennies. California’s already set up as a 3rd World country already, with its border crossings…er… AGRICULTURAL CHECKPOINTS…

This is just going to create yet ANOTHER robust black market in CA… Buy a gennie, get a free pound of weed…

Of course, if you’re an illegal immigrant, you get waved through. After all, illegals vote Democrat…

      • Lots of backroads into Cali with no checkpoints. Stay off the interstates. Road the bike from Beatty, NV north on 95 then the 266 into CA, holy shit is was like I was on a single lane drive way in places, passed like 5 cars all day. Someone could have a load of nukes, hookers and blow and no one would notice.

Highway 4 south of Reno was about the same, least traveled road in CA, miles and miles of nothing but freedom. Don’t pass any gas stations without topping off. Make the stop into Calaveras Big tree state park, you won’t regret it.

      • I can validate that the immigration checkpoints exist on all the major highways going into Commiefornia. My wife and I took a long road trip (we live in Florida) all the way to see her sister in Los Angeles. She commented on the fact that their “Agricultural Inspection Stations” look exactly like the Immigration and Customs stations on the Canadian border. Very scary actually. I did enjoy polluting their air with my vehicle only getting about 14 – 16 MPG. Pretty much everything in Commiefornia is a disaster area with huge tracts of empty desert. Downtown LA is a cesspool of homeless drug users. There is no way I could ever live there.

        • They’re only on the major interstates, and visible on Google Earth, and a minor detour or two avoids all the Ag checkpoints.

If you don’t come in on I-8, and don’t have to go north from it, you won’t have to deal with the ICE checkpoints at all.

About 10 minutes with Google Earth and one of those DeLorme entire-state roadmap books only gets you about 2-3 wholly unmonitored county roads into CA for every one of the 6 Stassi stations and the 3-4 ICE checkpoints nearest Mexico on the interstate system.

They catch lazy people. As intended.

  3. Ban on chain saws in California? Hmmm, will there will be an exception for forest fire crews, ya think? A small, angry, but sane part of my brain is screaming, “Let ‘er burn!”

    • For the last 20 year’s or more the Forest Management plan for Commiefornia has been to turn nearly the entire state into a charcoal briquett every summer.
Ask some poor unfortunate who lives there what it costs to remove a dead tree. All the red tape at every level of the Marxocrat food chain.
My small town of under a 1000 people has seen two families return from Commiefornia in the last year. They related taxes, living expenses, fires and one party rule.

  4. Does not apply to ‘Only Ones’…..

So, about that. When I was a wee lad in wee lad school the building was very modern for the time. All latest goodies, including state of the art climate control…. that never, ever, worked in the classrooms. It was open the windows and sweat, young man.

On the other hand, it worked just fine in the administration office. Hell, I’d piss off a teacher just to get sent to the office on a really hot day.

Then, some of the young men noticed how that offices HVAC unit was right over the admin office… right up front of the building…. Right… There… In…. Plain… Sight.

Funny thing that. A $2 arrow will frag an HVAC unit just fine.

Open the window and sweat, Admiral Jacket and Tie.

  5. Right. And expect those California plated vehicles posing as road tourists making forays into border states or deeper into redoubt mountain states on scavenger buying expeditions. The Golden horde will locust shop out the stores, sharp elbowing out the sleepy complacent locals of upper tier critical merchandise. It has happened during the covid spaz outs back east and in Europe. Use wire cutting pliers on aforementioned wheel valve stems as opportunities present themselves, in minecraft gamer play only of course. Stay frosty.

    • Riiiiiight.

Because those are “your” generators and chain saws, and the retailers have no right to sell them to whomever they please without your permission, right?

Watch out you don’t get a case of tire iron to the face on your forays, Slick. Or worse.

And please, stop living up to all the expectations of those in Hooterville, put down your banjo, and think two steps beyond kneejerk knuckledragging.

People travelling outwards to buy things puts revenue in your state’s pocket, Nimby.

It also monkeywrenches socialism in Califrutopia.

Grown-ups call that “freedom”. Those are all good things. Try not to hurt your head if that thought grows a seed, and your hat gets too tight.

  6. Just when you think Gruesome Newsome aka Governor Hair Gel can’t get any dumber he goes and does stupid crap like this.
Elections have consequences. And stolen elections have more so it seems. It makes these Marxist assholes think they are invincible. Which they aren’t.
The big problem I see here is the wait for a moving van or Uhaul just went from 6 months to 8.

  7. You’re right, about the general store.
Most forty-niners didn’t find their “pay dirt” dream.
But those who sold them their implements, did.
Even though you were joking, you just might
have revealed the way to financing your dream
    retreat.

    • So true. One of the sellers was my 3x great grandfather who owned an iron foundry in New York. He chartered his own ships for the run to Commiefornia. Had his own representatives on board to handle the sales at dockside. And to prevent the crew from deserting and going gold hunting the ships Captain and crew were cut in for a portion of the profits.
A shovel that cost $3 in New York was sold dockside in Commiefornia $75 and up. Sometimes bringing in way more then a $100. Picks, hammers, pinch bars. Whatever the tool they were selling for prices above and beyond East Coast prices. He was a typical northern Yankee. As soon as a ship was loaded it set sail. He did rather well and expanded his business and hired more men.

  8. California’s plans go well beyond this ban.

Their next step — as gleefully related to me by a wealthy and politically-connected friend of some relatives — is a ban on all internal combustion engined vehicles in California. They are hoping to see this enacted in legislation by 2025 or so.

California is a wonderful place. The problem is that it is infested with lunatic Californians.

  9. A lot of things can happen between now and when the full force of this edict goes into effect. In 2024 when gas lawnmowers etc. are banned, there will be elections and there will be elections in 2028 when generators are banned. Considering that no politician will willingly commit political suicide, the next few years should be… “Interesting.”

    • Bwahahahahah!!!!!!!

Elections? You actually think they mean anything now? The Dems have proven that they control the output of all elections in the US. Grusom’s relief from being tossed clearly confirmed this. As has the investigations of the federal election fraud. Until/unless the voting process is fixed to eliminate the endemic fraud, you have NO ability to change the direction and velocity of the disaster we are facing.

Your fantasy that we can vote our way out of this mess would be funny, if it wasn’t so sad.

  10. Time to erect a wall at the border of cali to keep all the fruits, flakes and nuts in their cage.
