Intruder Alert

About 11 years ago some drunk interrupted my evening by trying to gain entry into my house. At the time, the response was to gunface him and, unsurprisingly, he suddenly realized he needed to be elsewhere.

Absolute exact same situation just happened again. Second time I’ve gunfaced someone.

This used to be such a nice town……

  1. Glad it all worked out….times are a changing all over. I live in a nice quiet suburb ( yeah, yeah….I know. Just biding my time to move.) My dog was barking like crazy yesterday morning because a police helicopter was orbiting overhead…turns out there was a triple shooting less than a mile away…3 dead….I’m guessing a murder/suicide….used to be nice around here! Keep your head down and stay safe!

  2. Good reminder of why we carry at home, glad you are okay. I almost had to gunface a guy a few months back in public. I was at a park with my toddler early in the morning so he could burn off some energy and let momma sleep in a little and so the place was empty. As I was pushing him on the swings I noticed a car pulled up and parked a few down from mine and the driver sat in the car. It was a chilly morning and there are houses directly across the street that many people park in those spaces to go over to so I didn’t think a ton of it but noted it was or interest.

Well 10 minutes later as I began loading my kid up into his car seat (an action I hate because I have to stick my head into the car and lose nearly all situational awareness) but I made sure to set him in the seat and then look around before working on buckling him in. Well I’m glad I did because homeboy decided that was the best time to walk up on me from behind. I spun around and told him to stop where he was and either the fact that he got caught while still 25+ feet away or the fact that I had unzipped my coat and cleared it back on my right side as I turned gave him idea that he wanted to be somewhere else. He started to mumble something about needing directions and I told him I could not help him and he needed to get in his car and drive to the gas station straight down the road a mile. He liked that idea and immediately left. Either the guy had ill intent or he was just clueless about what signals acting like that would send to anyone with the slightest sense of self preservation.

  3. Agree, way to many people moving to the Bozeman area , wife and I are looking for a small town to move to.

  4. Glad it all ended ok, Commander. similar things happening in my neck of the woods in Pennsylvania. Used to be pretty nice here too…

  5. There are bad people everywhere, some places just have more!!! We live in a fallen world after all.

  6. My wife’s nieces and nephews are LEOs in a major metropolitan area (one that they make movies about the crime in). In just the past week, they have started warning family members to be more careful, This is a new development. Tells me they are becoming worried. Apparently with the political attitude about the “downtrodden”, they are being told to give them a pass on criminal activity. No cash bail, early release, limited prosecution. The predatory criminal element is becoming bolder. Lock your doors, increase your awareness of what is around you, keep defensive measures available,

I am not mentioning where they are located for their own protection.

  7. Dear Commander Zero,
I’m not trying to be provocative, and please excuse my grammar and spelling, English not being my first language.
I’m just genuinely curious: by reading some of your previous posts, I’ve come to the assumption that you live in a condo or, at least, in some sort of urban complex divided in individual apartments. Please again forgive me if this assumption is wrong.
But if that’s really the case, and given you focus on survivalism and personal security, don’t you think that moving away from such urban and promiscuous living conditions, and settling in a more rural and secluded setting, would be a higher priority that, for example, having enough small arms stashed in your cellar to equip a full infantry platoon?
    Thank you for the attention,
    Daniele

      • Sorry, I was led to that thinking because in my country single, detached houses are almost always entirely surrounded by a fenced, gated area. So, nobody could ever came knocking to MY front door, legally, without me buzzing him the gate open. Otherwise, he would have to climb the fence or the gate and knowingly commit an act of trespass, and that would allow me to fully exercise my right to self defense…

        • I don’t know what your home country is but here in America there are homes, single private residents, that are on tiny city lots and there are many, millions, that are on medium sized property, 10 acres of less. In our western states where there are lots of open land some home owners have hundreds to thousands of acres of private property.
Generally speaking unless you’re living in a HOA, home owners association, having a fence around your yard is your choice to make. Why anyone would volunteer to live in an HOA controlled property is beyond me but whatever.

          • Thanks for the input. I live in Italy. I was aware of the various features of single houses in the US. In my earlier remarks I was referring in particular to the good Commander Zero’s abode. In some his previous “intruder” kind of posts, he wrote about people randomly showing up, and through, his front and back doors. So one can argue that, while not living in a condo or in a shared complex as he stated, he lives in a single house, located in an urban setting, and NOT surrounded by a fenced property. A situation in which, personally, I would not be comfortable.

Understood, our housing systems very a great deal.
To your point, depending on where you live here the customs of how, where and when you enter someone’s home varies. Here in the deep South where I live most houses in suburban and rural areas have what we call screen or storm doors that let the breeze into the home when the wooden or steel security door is left open. These are rarely secured with anything more than a hook and eye, which offers no real protection, that’s used to keep the door closed. Lots of time people announce themselves as they walk in, this is usually done by family and close friends only. Nobody I know lives behind a locked door inside a security type fenced area, it’s just not the way we live here.
As to CZ’s situation, there are many variables to why things happened the way they did and only he knows the whole story.
          Have a great day.

  8. Our dogs have scared off “potential issues” twice this year. That’s more than I’ve had in the previous 15 years here.

For reference this is in a small town in south Minnesota.

    Steelheart

  9. I expect that the odds are in favor of the potential intruder being a drug addict. The country is being overrun by them, and they turn to property crimes, in particular, to pay for their habit.

To anyone over the age of 50, it is astounding that the country they grew up in could have arrived at the point where Oregon could decriminalized hard drug usage. It is a stain on the voting population there. Just watch and see how many hard drug users flock to Oregon as a result.

Even if this doesn’t happen, the burden on government-provided social services is likely to increase greatly, as more and more of the population qualifies for disability payments resulting from a life spent on drugs. Beyond that, watch and see the explosion in petty crime to support drug usage.

Libertards, I mean Libertarians are effing morons when they declare that everyone should have the right to use any drugs they want to use. If that is the case, let the Libertarians pay for the drug addicts’ support.

    • So you believe the benevolent gov has the right to tell you, a free individual, what you can and can’t put in your body in the privacy of your own home?

    • Maybe they (libertarians) just want to allow natural selection to take its course a bit faster?

    • December 13th was Sgt. Alvin York’s birthday. He was good with a gun and single handedly massacred/captured boatloads of enemy soldiers. He was brave and strong.

He was also a liberal democrat. So was Audie Murphy who also massacred enemy soldiers by the scores (with an M1 carbine) despite being a small person who passed out in basic training doing jumping jacks.

I wish I could turn back time and watch one of you keyboard tough guys call them a libtard or effing moron to their face.

How many men and women in the military are democrats or liberals? What about the fire/police department or the power company? Maybe when you call for help tell them you only want white guys who agree with you to show up.

The constant bashing of Americans makes visiting sites with good information like CZ does for us nearly unbearable.

      • My uncle, God love him was a socialist he fought on two continents and survived three plane crashes including one in the desert and one in the ocean my cousin was the same, he served in three continents starting on 12/7/41 and was at the battle of midway
But they both grew up dirt poor and worked in the CCC during depression, the original Marxist indication camp,
I suspect that after three generations of socialist indoctrinated in the public schools, there’s far more commies in the military than people will admit, the collapse into a dystopian socialist nightmare will be fast and dramatic, no one will be coming to save us, the best we can hope for is a total systematic collapse so that the center does not hold, because It’s the central government that we have to fear most at least those if us in what is still a free state

      • @ Jimbo. Sgt. York lived from 1887-1964. Audie Murphy lived from 1925-1971. There is no way those guys have much of anything in common with the liberal progressives in the modern US political system. Surely you have to understand how much the political landscape has shifted over the last 15 years–let alone the last 50.

If you really think Sgt. York or Audie Murphy would be out in the streets of Portland with Antifa throwing fireworks and piss-filled bottles at police officers, you’re on another planet.

      • @ Jimbo:
First of all, Neither Alvin York nor Audie Murphy massacred anyone, enemy soldier or otherwise. You clearly never bothered to serve your nation in uniform, or if you did, you fell asleep in the Law of Land Warfare classes every soldier is required to take and pass to become a US military member. York and Murphy lawfully killed a lot of enemy combatants in the line of duty. I hate it when jackasses who’ve never served say US soldiers massacre (murder) people. That’s not what they do.
Second, Murphy didn’t do it with an M1 carbine, he did it mostly with hand grenades and a Ma Deuce (M2). That’s a military colloquialism, look it up!
Third, “I wish I could turn back time and watch one of you keyboard tough guys call them a libtard or effing moron to their face.” … STFU!
Fourth, I served in the military in two combat zones. In the Infantry in the Gulf War and on the General Staff as a Transportation officer in Somalia. I met LOTS of Republicans, and SOME Democrats in uniforms. The Democrats (who were statistically few) were largely there to punch some ticket and fucked things up in uniform as much as Democrats do out of uniform. So again, STFU!
Finally, in terms of criticizing Americans: WTF do you expect freedom-loving people to do when anti-freedom Democrats and others are actively working to undermine our rights — just take it and say, “Oh well, they’re Americans, so I guess Jimbo says I can’t criticize them”? Be4ing an American doesn’t exempt someone from criticism. In fact, if Americans can’t criticize their fellow Americans, who can? Take your holier than thou attitude and shove it up you fourth point of contact. (That’s another military term — look it up.)

    • This indicates a presumption that the government should provide social services (treatment) for these people. I am of the opinion that that is the wrong thing to do. Leave them to the effects of their own choices. And that, in my world, would include banning the police and paramedics from carrying Narcan. Individuals prescribed opiates would be allowed to buy their own Narcan that they would keep with them. It is not the government’s function to take care of them. There might be a surge of deaths, but people would quickly learn to not use the drugs.

    • think about this, if I am a over 21 and sober person walking down a street in Massachusetts with a beer in my hand I would most likely be arrested, but if I was a stoned teenager smoking marijuana I wouldn’t even receive a civil infraction

  10. Glad your ok Z. Was hoping that sort of thing is rare in Montana.

We had a hot break in few years back in Reno, NV on New Year’s Day. Scumbag used a large rock smashing a sliding glass door at 2AM. He was halfway through it when the wife hit the lights while I was racking the Glock. He beat feet so fast he cut himself on the broken glass. Cops took ten minutes to arrive and then thanked me for not shooting him (said the paperwork was ‘killer’. They were making a joke).

  11. If this happened monthly or even weekly it would be a whole other story. Twice in eleven years? Meh…

  12. No cash bail, early release so they don’t catch wuhan, (but you can go to jail if violating lockdowns) more and more out of work because of illegal mandates, blm & atifuks given a pass on, well, everything, Illegal voting and courts ignoring in your face facts, on and on and on. I for one will be really happy if I can simply survive with my hypothetical sanity intact, which at this point is debatable.
Results turn out like the ptb are hoping for, things are about to go full on western. Key words are: stay aware, trust no one, verify everything, verify again.
Went to 2 sources the other day for primers, of 84 listed, 43 were “no backorders” and not a single one were listed as “in stock” …. That boys and grills, is an accurate indication of how much faith the general populace has in our present gobbermint, both republitards and the socialist party.
Thankfully our God will guide us through this, but it up to us to do the heavy lifting, He is only our guide. May we all praise when we can put this year in the shitcan.
Ifn I don’t remember, I would like to wish Commander Zero and all here a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year. Ifn that ain’t woke enough for you….. Tough shit…. And remember, 2021 is just around the corner, the year in which “Mad Max” happened, so at least we got that going for us……. bwwwwaaaaahhhhaaaaahhhhhaaaaaaaa… Cheerz!

  13. As others have stated here, it is getting bad all over, and the overture has sadly, just started. I was staying in a motel in a regular basis. I had to close encounters with people trying to get in my door. I let them know what would happen if they did get in. Another guy kept saying he didn’t have enough to get a room and could he stay with me in the other bed. Uh, that was a no. “The times, they are a changing.” Bob Dylan

  14. Good to see you didn’t have to shoot for blood on that encounter Zero. Lots of BS goes along with that you don’t need. This goes to my wife complaint about after I walk the dogs in the am every day don’t I take off my pistol? She says it’s weird to wear it in the house. I tell her who knows may come to the door or yard or whatever. And then you want the means of deterrence at hand. We live at the end of a dead end culdesac and many times in the last few years I have seen cars drive into the circle and slow down as though checking out the would be pickings. Have your heat on you I say.. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year commander.

  15. If the country could get behind sensible gun control you wouldn’t need to worry that someone like that had a gun.

    😉

    • So I’m not sure if you’re joking or serious, but if you’re serious than you and I have different ideas about what ” sensible gun control ” is. My sensible opinion is every law abiding American citizen should own at least 3 weapons and be proficient with all of them. They should regularly carry a sidearm for protection of their family members and themselves. I believe it is reasonable for our government to encourage gun ownership and promote getting training on them. In other words I whole heartily support our 2nd Amendment as a God given right.

    • His meme is winking, so clearing he is jesting!!! Some people have a hard time reading between the line, clearly!!!

      • Well I don’t see a winky eye on my phone, it has a couple squishy lines that have no meaning to me. So clearly not all mojies or whatever they’re called works the same with all systems and to ass ume they do is well, ass anine

          • This is true, glad it wasn’t me making ass umptions everyone could see his “winky face” symbol like some did……… I’d feel pretty stupid, how about you.

  16. Commander: been there, done that. Made a few changes around the homestead after that… Glad you made it thru without shots fired. Be safe & have a great Christmas!
