It approaches

Regardless of the election results, you’ve got until January 20 until the current Presidential term expires. You’ve got a little over two months… ready, set, go! Here’s a reminder of what you might (or might not) be facing:

Guys, panic buying comes in four waves:

  1. Right before the election – “This idiot might win”
  2. Right after the election – “Crap, he won. I better get busy and buy…”
  3. Right before the inauguration – “That idiot takes office next week. I better buy…”
  4. Right after the inauguration – “Frak, he’s President now. I better buy while I can..”

This happens every four years. All this has happened before, and all this will happen again.

  1. I was one of those who stupidly waited in the 1990’s until after the ’94 Crime Bill to look at spare magazines. Paid $60 for EACH G21 magazine – bought 4. Damn me, stupid should hurt and I learned a lesson.

    I think I’m good now.

  2. I wonder how much people will pay for those Asian Glock mags post Biden anointing in January. Thinking of picking up a couple dozen of those and some metal AR mags strictly for reselling to the panicked hordes.

  3. Can’t tell you how many times I turned $100 down for mine back then. Was as comforting to have them then as it is now.

  4. At my Wally today. The TP we usually buy was down to one package, so I bought it. We have plenty to last, but I bought it anyway. Everything else seems good, so far.

  5. Was just reminiscing about the good old days of $1.99 G3 mags. They’re up to $5 now! Guess it’s still a deal even if more than double.

  6. Project this out to when Biden is tits up and slobbering on his diaper in the basement adult nursery of the White House and Kamala is acting president. Nationwide ban on anything over 10 rounds. $100 will be cheap for a 30 round mag.

Perhaps there will also be no grandfather clause. Turn them in or be in violation of a federal ban. Yikes. Maybe it does approach. Buckle up.

  7. I remember those days, those dark days. Wanted a new Pmag. Went to a gun show. Only found a few at $100.00 each. Had to wait 10 years but will never catch me short again. Only this time it will most likely not expire in 10 year like it did under Comrad Clinton. Bush almost reinstated it. I just acquired 10 more for the stack. A good investment and not for sale. Brothers and Sisters do not be caught short. You will kick yourselves if you do.

    — I’ve found out the problem with this… when they are willing to pay, you think that maybe you should hold on to them yourself. I ended up selling very few of the masks I picked up to resell, for example, and even if I’d bought 10 of those $325 DelTon ARs, I’d be thinking REALLY hard about selling more than 2 or three right now.

    • lol, same here. of course there’s the dilemma of sell before the ban or hold out for big bucks and stand a chance of getting caught. no grandfather clause this time. i figure, they make me a felon i’ll be the best one on the block, bfytw.

  9. I hopefully have learned from the past. Had to buy a $50 mag for my PT92, because it didn’t like aftermarket ones.

I’ve been planning for the next “panic” since then. Made money after Sandy Hook. We’ll be okay after this one.

I look at “prepping” from the standpoint of “What would happen if I couldn’t get *** anymore?” If it’s something I use and don’t want to run out of, I buy a couple more.

  10. Ok, it’s getting bad out there!! Went to Wally world for my bi-weekly shopping and they have no Twinkies, what is this world coming to. Plenty of TP, but no Twinkies. Damn you hoarders!!!!

–yep, so when my vac sealer had an issue last week with sticking bags, and I had 30# of meat waiting to head for the deep sleep, I just went out to the garage and pulled out the backup… My wife saw it on the counter and asked “did we get a new vac sealer?” I told her that the ‘good’ one had issues so I got out the spare. “We have a SPARE vac sealer????” “Of course we do, it’s a critical food preparation tool.” I declined to mention that there was another older/cheaper one on the shelf as a spare for that older model, and that there was another beyond that…..

If you use it, and it’s important, you better have spares. And while I have backups for defensive items, I eat every day and need to feed people every day so I have WAY more backup cooking stuff.

(the same way I can cook on an open fire in the back yard, I can defend with a 20ga semi loaded with birdshot, if I fall down my list that far…)

(estate sales and garage sales are your friends when looking for cheap backups, the Foodsaver was ~10$ and the older Seal a meal styles were even cheaper. My main Foodsaver was onsale at Costco when I bought it.)

  12. So very depressing, but inevitable. The anti’s are going to be coming fast and hard here very soon. The 94 ban was like a shot in the nuts that stung for 10 years, be ready for it.
