Looks a bit superficial and glib from the beginning chapters that you can read using the “Look Inside” feature. 2 1/2 chapters of “we’re different” and “we’re cooler than the other guys” without a single useful piece of advice….
Always good to have different points of view though, and maybe it will act as a gateway to more serious study of the subject. I do wish the Look Inside would show a chapter later in the book so I can get a feel for what a non-intro chapter looks like.

It appears that GAB took down the WRSA page.
up at noon on Monday.

A ‘bigger picture’ thought about JWR book.
It’s in COSTCO. and they pre-ordered. 30K is a LOT of books on a niche subject. Google what it takes to become a NYT “best seller” and you’ll probably be surprised. Someone at Costco thought it was a good bet that they’d sell 30K volumes which speaks volumes about the current mindset in the US.
I believe that even the crappiest book on the subject is better than no book on the subject, if it causes someone to start down the path. Every prepared person is one less among the starving horde that is looking for my stuff.
That said, I’m well past humorous entry level books, so I’ll give it a pass. On the other hand, I might try JWR’s book, to see if it’s appropriate to ‘pass on’ to a friend or relative.

Sorry, the book in the amazon link is the one I’m passing on, JWR’s book I’ll look at and see if I like it.

Suprised that this book is in Costco already. You have to Pre-order it for October 20. 2020 delivery on Amazon.
Huh.
Costco is closed for Labor Day down here in Kalifornia.
I used to follow JWR regularly and read his early books, but over time I found him to be overly risk adverse and to not be nuanced enough, so I read others now instead.
He is a good place to start, but not to stay with long term.
The bigger issue is whether he has added to and improved on his earlier works, or just re-hashed and re-packaged them.
Having the originals already, cold leftovers would be rather unappealing if they haven’t been improved upon, and by something more than a few new glossy pictures, and phoning it in from 2010 or so.
I’d love to see someone give it a proper review, if they get their mitts on it first.
FWIW, I picked up a copy.
Full review to follow at my site when it’s not just a placeholder for actual content.
The comma gets me every time.
Rawles is great and his first novel patriots is required reading by anyone that wants to understand prepping. CZ and rawles are going to be vindicated soon enough unfortunately and they will both be responsible for waking people up across the nation. too many arm chair preppers out there today who let down their guard and surrender their watchmen’s post…….
I need to go buy it if it is still available.
wow it’s not even officially published until October 20th.
I have better things to spend my money on.
Right between ‘Dog Mommies” & ‘Crockpot Revolution!’
Nice!
I believe that Rawl’s wrote that CostCo only ordered 30,000.
You’re better off with this. Rawles is more for the disaster porn crowd.
