How’d that discount-stacking strategy work out at Cabela’s the other night?
Not bad, actually. When all done it was about 26.7% off.
Ruger MPR (with the very impressive Ruger Elite 452 trigger) w/ Leupold 1.25×4 30mm AR Patrol scope in a Leupold mount/base and some backup sights.
Is your scope mounted backwards in the rings/base?
Yup.
Heh. Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s done that.
Dude…thats how all the low-speed, high-drag operators are doing it these days.
Why?
I need a little more to go on than that.
👍
Too funny…
I guess you spent too much time fast roping out of a 141…
I got a MPR this year, from my research and observation is it the best for the buck. I am very happy with mine. I have the Leupold AR scope on my .30-06, it’s a nice addition as well.
Why did you reverse the mount? What’s benefit – better eye relief?
I appreciate the implied confidence in my competency you give me by assuming that I did it on purpose.
And I was just going to reply that the scope mount was backwards. I see lots of folks got here to say that first. Mount is supposed to hang out over the handguard to provide eye relief for average-sized people who aren’t 7 feet tall and run the stock adjusted to it’s maximum. 😛 But if zero is 7 feet tall, he’s got it right – carry on, nothing to see here.
I just took another look and realized the gun has a rail on the handugard. The mount is meant to be reversed(IE, hanging out over the handguard) if you have an upper with a plastic handguard that doesn’t continue the rail forward, since there’s only so much real estate on a gun with the plastic handguards. Apologies for the double comment. 😛
Super cool!
What are you using for BUIS on the Ruger?
“Dude…thats how all the low-speed, high-drag operators are doing it these days.”
Heh. Reminds me of the time I re-installed the 12 volt battery in our lawn tractor one spring. Now, I’m a college educated, professional guy. A Ham radio operator, thoughtful and deliberate….usually.
So, one would THINK, that I’d check the entire “red-is-positive-black-is-negative” thing, right? Well, I might THINK that I would, except that I did not.
Oops.
80 dollars alter, I was the proud owner of a brand new tractor battery.
I hope that your scope mount story, sounds smarter than MINE.
That’s a nice economical way to set up a good scope system a on a value AR15. Fin Feather and Fur has had the Ruger MPR on sale for the last few flyers at $579.
I haven’t tried using a two stage trigger before but I’ve been thinking of giving one a try. Would you recommend the Ruger Elite 452 trigger for that? I’ll be putting it in a Ruger (SR-556). BTW, where do you get all y our banner pics?
Can’t get over the ejection port cover being open (too long in the USMC). Have been looking for a optic that can do double duty on AR10 and M1A for reasonable price and work out to 1000yds.
