I found this video through rightc0ast
Its a very interesting video. From rightc0ast‘s post:
This woman Patti (Garden Girl) has a fantastic video she put on GoogleVideo. Sustainable agriculture at it’s finest, and shes a complete natural in front of the camera. She hopes to pitch this to PBS orsomething, and it could totally work with this lady doing it. She seems to want to touch on everything from edible integrated landscapes to husbandry and forthrightly states she is going to be the poster person for sustainability to America. Whether she succeeds or not is another story, but after reading her posts she’s a gulcher with some strong will power. She just might.
Sustainability is often non competitive w/other methods of having access to goods or services. It either requires unlimited capital & time to this a la’ Martha Stewart or complete disconnect from outside sources of money for work. Sounds good as a TEOWAWNI strategy tho.
damn it. having a little trouble finding her website.
In the original thread where she posted the video link, she said she didn’t have one yet but was working on it…
She should be looking at the Discovery or Learning channels rather than PBS.
Although sustainability in the city is all well and good, the goal should be to save money as well as learn skills so she can get out of dodge asap–before the balloon goes up.
(BTW, I found your lj through Survival Blog. Nice.)
I think that while getting out of dodge is a consideration to many of the readers or Commander Zero and Rawles’ respective blogs, it isn’t among the high items on her list. She is preparedness minded, but not concerned about teotwawki as far as I could tell after reading that full thread. She did say she would greatly prefer PBS to a Discovery or Home and Garden TV spot since that way she could avoid dumbing down the material for a larger audience. She would gladly take a larger network spot if it was all that was offered or if the material was preserved relatively the same, and not turned into “how to make a compost pile” she implied.
Hopefully she gets a site up and running soon to give her owwn views on the matter. I will write her momentarily and offer to host and author the page.
oops, that was me.
Thanks for straightening me out.
I’d love to see her webpage when she gets it up.
