Well, the girlfriend was nice enough to find a download of the series premier of ‘Jericho’ for me. Naturally, being a sucker for a good TEOTWAWKI flick I had to watch. My impression? Very good. ‘Lost’ meets ‘Alas Babylon’. For those who detest spoilage, I will lj-cut because, dammit, Im that nice.
Okay, Im into it one episode and Im really curious. We’ve got all the makings of the usual end-of-the-world scenarios: an empty prison bus with some dead guards in it, fistfights at the gas station, locals with shotguns, kids who panic, kids who have their poop in a group and are smart enough to put the perishables on ice, the calm and cool mayor, his scheming political opponent, mysterios dead animals, drifter/loner/prodigal son with a sketchy past and some good survival skills that he picked up…where?………..
Bad points? Mmmm…the only guy in town with a ham radio (perhaps a nod to the Burt Gummer crowd) is portrayed in his one scene as an ‘aliens are attacking us’ kind of guy.
Gerald “Major Dad/Simon &Simon” McRaney is in this and McRaney is a NRA lifer so maybe he’ll keep the ‘locals with shotguns are trouble’ sort of storylines to a minimum,,then again, he hasnt had a steady job in a while so he cant really rock the boat.
Looks promising so far, although I know full well you cant really go by just one episode. however, I recommend that first episode. If it makes me wanna go down in the bunker and stare at my preps, then you know its good.
in other news, a cool animation from Wiki:
good show… and cbs will have extended versions of the episodes available to download off their website right after the episodes air.
Thanks for the heads-up, btw – it if wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have know it was out there and available. 🙂
