You trusted me on the Fabulous Flectar Parkas, right? Okay, trust me again on this piece of winter gear: SAS POLYPROPYLENE SURVIVAL HEADOVER from BQ. I’ve had one for almost my entire life here in Montana and it is far and away one of the most versatile pieces of winter headwaer you can have. Wear it as earwarmer, hood, neck gaiter, hat, face mask, etc. And cheap. Fold it up and tuck it through your belt and its out of the way until you need it. Seriously good gear and I highly recommend it just as strenuously as I recommended the flectar parka set.
I did find it by the description, though.
I’ve lost mine in the last move, but they work damn well in the Ice and wind of North Texas winters too, for the day or so they actually happen.
I have several of them (different brands, though), both lightweight and heavy. They’re awesome. They’ve kept me warm everywhere from the bow of a boat in Alaskan waters to climbing out of (cave) pits in roaring waterfalls and howling wind. No one should be without one.
Oops! That was me…forgot to log in.
Looks like it’d be great for wearing while riding too. That gap between the jacket and the helmet gets mighty cold.
I was thinking exactly the same thing… and given that I’ve been coincidentally shopping around for a balaclava/gaiter solution, I think I’ll give this Zero Recommendation a try!
Exactly why I think I might just pick one up for a needed Christmas gift.
I’ve had one of these for the last 16 years. My winter gear would not be complete without one.
You might want to look at the polypro caps they sell for kayaking, too (not a full hood, just a cap that fits well under a helmet).
Just ordered two – let’s hope they get here in time for Christmas.
Yes, I’m a terrible procrastinator.
Too bad you can’t get credit in some way for referring the products.
