  1. I don’t know if I could trust something with seams to hold water long term. They don’t say how long it would be good – I don’t think it is meant to hold water and sit in the basement for 5 years or more, even being rotated.

  2. They look to me like they’re primarily meant for short-term water distribution and refill useage, since storage size seems to be a main design feature. I have doubts about using them for long-term storage.

They’d be great for short-term uses like hauling water to Burning Man and things like that. Then you’d have to dry them out thoroughly before storing them again to prevent crap from growing inside them.

  3. um

purchased ten 55-gallon plastic drums, used to ship wine, for about eight dollars apiece, a few years back. as for these water carriers, must cost more per barrel new ( or used?), only wonder how long can one keep water in them, let alone repair any leaks.

  4. Assuming you mean going through the full DRMO purchasing process, and not an online reseller, how’ve you found that to be? I’ve got a DRMO less than a mile from my workplace, and am starting to sort out the process for purchasing from them, but have never actually dealt with them yet.

  5. I actually haven’t done it before, but I’ve seen stuff marked for DRMO plenty of times. I was thinking either a) go through the full purchasing process, or b) just ask around (i.e. with the supply guys) to see if anything interesting is being tossed/lost/etc). Either way I’ll post if I get hold of anything of note.

good point there, as am using a special carrier just to move a single drum. wonder if the bags are freezeproof?
