In the space of a week silver was up and down a buck. Wild times.
I was in the coin shop today and it was pointed out to me that today was some sort of Indian holiday. (Thats Indian with the 7-11, not Indian with the casino.) Specifically, Dhanteras …“Dhanteras holds special significance for the business community due to the customary purchases of precious metals on this day”
How cool is that? A holiday that encourages you to go out and by gold. I need to bring this to the attention of The Metals Pimp so he can find a whole new demographic to cater to.
In this country we have several holidays devoted to buying guns. Mostly Election Day.
should this mark the beginning or end of a High Holy Season of Paratus? Exchanging of unwanted gifts for precious metals?
South Carolina has a 2nd Amendment Weekend where there is no sales tax on firearms.
I think that quite a few states also do this, though I’m pretty confident that you won’t find it in CA and NY…
Commander: Thank you. I laughed out loud. “Mainly election day”, indeed!
Bullion rounds seem to be back down to almost “wow” prices but mint coins are still a tad high on the spot prices (depending on where you shop). Time to make another order.
Still crazy how PMs are down so low that mining companies are having to find alternative sources of income just to stay open, when the demand just keeps going up.
Platinum is also way down, due in large part to the recession in China, and the corresponding decrease in demand for platinum jewelry. It’s further exacerbated by the business struggles of one of the world’s largest platinum mining companies.
It’s well below the price of gold, currently, which presents a great opportunity to buy. The inverse relationship won’t last forever.
I noticed the current dip in Platinum… however I’ve not done as much research into it’s uses in the modern world other than an “other than” PM.
Any hints or ways to send me to look?
Around here we say “Indian as in dot, not feather.”
