Death by dialup

You guys saw that earlier this week AT&T had a little kerfuffle with their service? The claim is that it was a software issue. I’m sure it was, but I’m also sure that if it was something more sinister they would try like hell to cover it up and blame something more benign…like a software issue.

Then, today, you get a headline like this: Pharmacies nationwide face delays as health-care tech company reports cyberattack.

It’s a strange new world when the more likely threats to your way of life and your security come from the internet and not a Tu-95.

This is he stuff Hollywood has made movies about. There’s no shortage of flicks about people gaining control of some critical infrastructure computer and messing things up on a grand scale. The war strategists have told us that our water treatment, fuel delivery, air traffic, and electrical distribution systems are high priority targets for our friends the Chinese/Russians.

In true Machiavellian fashion, I wonder if some bad actor will conduct an operation and make it look like someone else did it in order to foment conflict. Couldn’t you see the Chinese launching a cyberattack that makes it look like the work of the Russians so that the US and Russia lock horns, leaving China to take advantage of the chaos and do what they want?

The lesson here, I suppose, is that while we prepare for the loss or diminution of infrastructure, it appears that it’s becoming even more vulnerable. Sure, we expected electricity and municipal water to be a problem….but drug prescriptions?

  1. If you google % of pharmaceuticals are made in China you get feel good (SNOPES level) numbers of about 21%.

If you Google the % of Chinese made precursors to Pharmaceuticals its 90%.

Just because it’s made in India, Mexico or even the USA, most of them REQUIRE Chinese precursors.

  2. If you realize that govt estimates of the number of Americans on various anti depressants and anti psychotics is appox 30% of the population, its a prefect way to destabilize a country. Or if you add in illegal drugs it goes higher.
Think about this also,Now if you are an enemy of the US who has been supplying the cartels illegal drug market for years as a way to create the new opium wars, what would happen if you had the cartels also suddenly stop the illegal drug flow also along with prescription drugs? Chaos
Who had the best way to destabilize the US as shutting down the pharmacy system for $300, Alex?

  3. Remember we had to huge solar flares erupt from the sun that gave us an R3 solar storm. Those can’t be discounted either. The sun activity has been abnormally high for the sun being in a solar minimum. The NOASWP aka Space Weather Prediction Center just changed the solar cycle from a solar minimum to a solar maximum..
As weak as the grid is in this country the modern version of a Carrington Event will wreak havoc should it be as strong as the original event from the early 1800s.
They’ve been warned repeatedly over the last 40 year’s. But the deaf and dumb that occupy the deck chairs in Congress are very weak minded individuals. Just saying.

    • Theree’s also a big comet, planetary line-ups and the second leg of an “X” made by total solar eclipses intersecting over New Madrid all happening early April.

Last time it was 5 years between each eclipse leg, completed in September 1811. Three months later the Mississippi ran backwards and church bells on the east coast were ringing from earthquakes.

Since we now know the past is best ignored, I’m pretty sure this would never happen again because science.

Everyone knows the sun and any energy from space pales in comparison to how humans change the planet, so nothing untoward will happen during or after this time period.

  4. Following. Interesting incident occurring, and as such a good ‘teachable moment’ for folks. As alluded to by wendyworn, it is not a wrong assumption that one’s own .gov or deep state affiliated operatives could, would, or did just such types of incidents for nefarious or profit capturing motives. Expect such incidents, frequently, and with way out of left field incredulously complex operations, as a regular business practice by those hacks. To not consider or warplan and game these scenarios is naive, and fatally flawed thinking. Empathy for sure for folks that must have RX meds, caught short over a “maybe” simple tech/data goof. A lesson plan here is to impart an increased personal resiliency posture in folks so any such “disruptions of services” is just a news squawking incident affecting only the unprepared rubes in the spaz out zones. Modernity and it’s features and conveniences are attractive for easy living, but the functional dependency it causes is a vulnerability that is easily exploited. Preparedness and survivalism adherents should be nearly detached, or fast on their feet able to, disconnect and function independently during any such scenarios. Please, for your own soul, try to just hang up those damnation phones and just drive that damn truck that is your life, becoming a human once more living in the here and now. That practice in of it’s self will make the “adapt, adjust, overcome” a simple task to do and not a schizoid out incident. Staying frosty will then easily be your second nature posture. Class dismissed for recess, now go out and play.

  5. i heard at least 3 diff excuses…a glitch…a solar flare…and some idiot coded an update wrong…

maybe it was a test by the elites to see how many peeps lost their chit…

  6. The less we are dependent on others the more self-sufficient we are. Our entire electrical system (and others) can be shut down with a mouse click. I can make my own electricity, for a while, with and a generator or solar panels. I can get and filter my own water, but it won’t be easy to transport or store. I can dig a latrine pit for waste.

I can’t make my own anti-biotics, vaccine or pharmaceuticals, but I can plant my own garlic and other plants to use as a natural cure and preventative measure. Historically, most casualties have been attributed to sickness, disease and lack of medical care rather than contact with ordinance.

  7. As of today the military pharmacy system is still down, assume the nationwide one is the cause.
Still no time to fix given. Thank god I keep the important meds stocked up.

So I wonder, was the firewall password actually: password 123 or which porn site some idiot at the global company was on and clicked on the you have just won a date and a BJ link…

  8. Feb 27 Update #2, Now Direct TV is having a nationwide outage in certain cities/ regional areas. Taking out a cell center isn’t hard but shutting down Sat links is a higher capability level actor.

Wonder if its a test run or a message?
