Hardigg

Found a handy product description .pdf of some of the military Hardigg cases that have been turning up. The supercool medical chests that someone tipped me off about are on page 4. And, my way over-the-top 12-rifle case is on page 8….I may have bit off more than I can chew on that one. With a dozen AR’s in it the weight is going to be close to 160# or so…kinda pushing the limits of man-portability.

I don’t know whats going on in Seattle, but their Craigslist is full of these things…..

  1. Hey CMDR,

I live in the Seattle area and haunt Craigslist a lot myself. I’ve found all sorts of stuff there, including some awesome ammo boxes. Not the ones for 5.56 or 7.62, but the big ones for mortar rounds. About three feet long, by 14 by 8, with clamp lids and rubber gaskets. How much did I pay, you ask? I got eleven for $100. Hah!

So, when I went to pick them up it was instantly obvious that this guy guys military surplus in bulk. He had stacks of those Hardigg cases, plus wooden medical crates, furniture, even an F15 boarding ladder. I got to talking with him and he said he goes to military auctions, and there seems to be quite a few of them around here. Maybe Ft Lewis (Now called Joint Base Lewis McChord cause they let those pesky Air Force guys in) is a logistics hub. I know they do a lot of repairs on battle damaged vehicles they bring back from the ME. (I mean Middle East, not Maine, by the way). So, if this area is a big logistics hub that might explain the large amount of surplus on CL.

People can scan CL postings from any city, not just the one they live in or near. I do this sometimes when I know I’m going down to Portland or wherever. If I spot something I like I set up a time to meet. Maybe if you see something you really want it might be worth a special trip. Take the wife and call it a vacation- she’ll be happy to get out of the house and you get a nifty whatever. Heck, you might even let her look for goodies on CL too. Just be warned, you might be driving home in a car full of plants, or fabric, or shoes, or…..
