Signage

Source

You would think I would say something like ” I need to get one of those for the shop”, but putting up a sign like that would imply that being okay with armed customers is somehow such a novelty that a sign needs to be put up saying its okay. Folks wandering around with a pistol on their belt should be such a common and unremarkable thing that having a sign like this would be like having a sign that says “Breathing and blinking is allowed in this establishment”.

Nonetheless, I think its a cool sign and I wouldnt mind seeing it at some of my favorite venues. (Of course, many of my favorite venues are already cool about people being armed…thats why theyre my favorites.)

  1. That is like the “No Stairway to Heaven” signs I used to see in guitar stores back after Wayne’s World popularized them in the 90′s. Awesome.
I do find it amusing that the penal code number used when a business here wants to post notice that entry on property by a license holder with a concealed handgun is forbidden is penal code 30.06 in Texas. If I see a 30.06 sign, you just lost my business.

  2. Your point is well taken, and while I agree with you in theory, it has not stopped me from ordering one of these in magnet form for my gun safe, and a co-worker of mine one for his beer fridge.

I predict this item will be a big seller for the sign company.

  3. Backin the day I lived in a quiet inland west town. Some of my fondest memories were open carrying my 1911 or a revolver and doing normal life stuff (buying groceries, ordering a pizza, getting some stuff at the hardware store, etc) and not having anybody bat an eye at the piece on my hip. It says a lot about the kind of social/ political climate that I like to be in.
